Our Head Chef Darren met up with Pete Evans, one of Australia’s leading celebrity chefs, at an event catered by First Class Functions recently.
The opportunity to chat with a food guru is surely quite a coup for any foodie, and for our catering team it was certainly a career highlight. Darren said of his encounter “Pete was really down to earth, and took the time to autograph his recipe books for the guests. We were even able to tempt him with some of our canapés!” The My Kitchen Rules co-host and judge was generous enough to give a copy of his book “My Kitchen” to the First Class Functions team – which now has pride of place in our showroom.
Darren has almost 20 years’ experience and joined the First Class Functions catering team in 2010. With expertise in many cooking genres, his focus for the First Class menus is on contemporary cuisine. Married with two young children, cooking for his family is one of Darren’s great passions. He loves Asian inspired dishes and his wife’s Japanese heritage has led him on a culinary journey around the world. Darren describes his approach as “from the heart”, and he is incredibly enthusiastic about fresh produce and combining flavours to excite the taste buds.
